I know what you’re thinking…

…Daaaaaaaaamn, that looks Deeelicious!  Let me start by saying, yes, yes it is.

O.k. here’s the stuff you’ll need. *Feel free to add or not ad anything you want.  As long as you remember the bacon, you’ll be a hit at any party*  You’ll need a few packs of Lasagna noodles. *Even if there are only two of you eating tonight, I have found it best to cook for 10 or 20 people.   Remember bacon is a breakfast food to.*  O.k., you’ve got the noodles, now you’ll need at least one pack of bacon cooked. *The recipe I used said to chop it into small pieces.  WTF?  Small pieces?  I figured the recipe was written by a woman who is all into fancy, make my meal look pretty.  Well this is a man meal, I want big pieces of bacon, at least 2 inches long.* Next you’ll need tomato sauce and chopped onions. Then to top it off, you’ll need a shit load of Mozzarella, Cheddar and Parmesan cheese.

I am sure you have noticed by now that I don’t say you should use 2 cups of this or a 1/2 cup of that.  That is because I have no idea how many people you are cooking for.   I am just telling you what you need to put in there.   I trust that you can figure out how much  you want.  For example, I love cheese and bacon, so I ALWAYS put extra of cheese and bacon in my lasagna.  Some people love the sauce, (and will soon be in mental homes) and they add extra of that.

O.k. where were we?  535029-holy_water_large1

Step One -  Boil the noodles.  Easy enough right?  While they are boiling…

…wait, hold on.  I just remembered a joke.  *How do you make holy water?  – You take regular water, then boil the hell out of it.  Haha…

...O.k. enough dickin’ around.  While the noodles are boiling, pour your tomato sauce and chopped onion and anything else you want to put in your sauce in a pan and start heating that up.

chese-main_fullStep two – Put all three cheeses, (Shredded, I know it sounds dumb to even have to point out it should be shredded but there is always one person who puts the blocks of cheese in the bowl and smiles like they’re on the “good” medication) Anyway, put them all in a bowl and set it aside.

Step Three – In a large pan, (I like a glass pan myself) pour a thin layer of your special tomato sauce so it covers the entire pan.  Then lay out two layers of noodles.  Then a thin layer of sauce again.  Lay out a bed of bacon… (Oh man, that sounds exotic doesn’t it?  A bed of bacon, phew…  NICE) Anyway, sorry got distracted.  Then cover the bacon with your three cheese mix.  Repeat those steps over and over until the pan is full.   Or until you run out of shit, whichever comes first.

Oh wait, O.k. I probably should’ve mentioned that you need to have your oven preheated to 350 degrees.   Sorry about the late notice, that’s my bad.

Step four – Place tin foil over the man meal to hold all the goodness inside. (also it keeps the sauce and cheeses from spilling over the top and burning on the bottom of your oven)

That’s pretty much it.  Let it cook for about 25 minutes, take it out and of course let it cool off.   However if you’re like me you’ll be digging small holes in the lasagna in search of the bacon treasure.

Cheddar cheese? ACK! You call that “cheese”? Now for the serious stuff: try some “besciamella” sauce (that’s the real italian lasagna filling) instead of that cheddar “cheese”.
Then try a nice trick. When you think that your lasagna is done, peel off the tinfoil, add some more “parmigiano” cheese (please, parmesan is not really the same stuff) and then roast it with the grill option until it is melted and crispy. Pay attention non to burn your masterpiece.

Sounds fabulous! I would use 2 lbs of bacon or even try pancetta or prosciutto or all three. I love the idea though. Love me some pork! Great work! Keep ‘em coming.

Side note: “Alberto”; you come off as a little pretentious about your Italian cuisine. Is that really necessary? Good food is good food. Integration of other cultures, styles and techniques is how new, maybe even better, food is born. I hope, for your sake, you open your palate and mind to new and original ideas like this one. Food can lead you down many roads and there is always something new around the corner.

    Ciao!
