an oh shi_ moment happens right past the point-of-no-return before something terrible is about to happen. a lot of these are pictures taken after the fact, and really don’t qualify.

    John,

You are correct. However, the moments that I post in the “Oh Shit” section are pictures that I have come across or have been sent to me, that made me sit up straight in my chair (I’m a bit of a sloucher) I open my eyes really big and I say, “OH SHIT!”

The oh shit moment, isn’t for the person or animal or situation in the picture. The oh shit moment for these posts are simply for the viewer.

    Thanks for the comment.

Really great photos, but the picture of the storm over the Statue of Liberty has been photoshopped, and I’m not just saying that either.

The original image comes from a storm chaser by the name of Mike Hollingshead, and the image from this link.

This type of cloud formations is something you would find in supercell thunderstorms, something that would rarely hit the New England states. I’m not saying they can’t, but you would be more likely to find these more in the Great Plains. Just informing you.

    Take care now. ;)

    DJ,

Wow, great job picking that one out. I live here in the Pacific Northwestern state of Washington. (and I don’t get out much) so thunderstorms are really just what I see in the movies and on TV. So when someone sends me a pic of a thunderstorm over New York, call me gullible, but I think, “Oh Shit, that’s bad ass.”

Anyway, thanks for the link to the original pic.

The gravel photo reminded me of a similar accident a friend of mine had with a huge spool of cable rolling off a truck and totally flattening the front of his car. He was so lucky, if he’d of been 1′ closer to the truck it would have also crushed the front seat and him as well.

I think the biggest oh sh*t moment on this page was when the owner/author person called someone out. XD It wasn’t even me and I got scared.

I came by just a few minutes after the bus took on the overpass! Now they can use it for siteseeing Manhattan!

The truck deserved what it got from cutting down a 1000 year old tree!

Hey, I could be completely wrong but is the one of the double decker bus just a cut out? I don’t really see anything except one side of it but besides that these are truly oh shit moments
